Peter and Presents

Uncle Peter has finally arrived! He battled an insane snowstorm to make it here for Saturday. He said he couldn't see for nothin' and was following a semi truck lights when he saw it slide into the ditch right in front of him. So Pete steered the other way and kept driving...well....crawling along. Then he passed four cars right behind each other all in the ditch nicely spaced apart of about 15 meters. Hmmm. Anyone guess what happened there? lol. But thankfully the roads and visibility got better as he headed south and so he made it to our house safe and sound at around 2AM. We all slept in since Jasper and I were out by friends till 1AM anyways and James went to bed late, so by the time we were all up and running, it was around 10. So we made coffee and sat down to chat and share some presents. Peter spoiled our little guy...have a look at some of the pictures.

A sweet quad from Bass Pro Shops!!! It makes all kinds of sounds too.

We gave James a pickup with a big trailer with some horses.

And a book...

Peter got us another version of "Settlers" called "Settlers of America: Trains and Rails" Very fun game!

Well Aunt Heather, now Nicole has her very own car too!! :)

Christmas Day!

I would like to wish you all a wonderful Christmas! (as it's now over.) I've always been one to procrastinate. Not a good habit to get into.

Anyways, we had such a lovely day! In the morning we went to church and heard a sermon from Luke 2 with emphasis on this verse: "Unto YOU is born this day a Saviour which is Christ the Lord."

Jasper was actually home and we hung out with just our little family and had a blast! We were expecting Peter, but hey, one never knows with him. He called to let us know he couldn't make it out anymore and was planning on coming tomorrow night. So our Christmas dinner will be then.

Jasper got some work done outside and I started and finished sewing a new skirt for myself! (while blasting Handel's Messiah through the house of course!) Such fun! And I have winterized my vases. *sigh. I am not a very creative person, but I'm proud of what I came up with!

And of course, what to do with all those Christmas cards??

James was entertaining us with his piano tactics

Mr. Cool Dude

Well that was that! Have a good evening folks!~

Shed and snow

Jasper has been working outside lately building a little garden shed and it's almost done! He just shingled the roof last night and hopes to put siding up soon. So much fun! James loves to play outside and watch him. The cats don't leave James alone, which he doesn't mind! The weather has also been quite up and down here lately. It was -43 with wind chill last week and today it's +4 so one never knows out here!

When it snows it tends to be very windy as well which leave interesting snow drifts. Because of the wind, the snow never really reaches our house, it builds up just a few feet away from it.

Nicole loves her little jumper I'm borrowing! so handy! :)

Holland!~

Ladies and Gentlemen, Jeanette has returned to the blogging world. I know it's amazing!
Alright, so first off, we came back about a month ago from our wonderful trip to Holland! Such fun! Seeing the family, mom and dad's new house, showing off our kids, and biking through quaint villages and peaceful countryside meadows are only some of the adventures we experienced! Yes, it is an adventure to see my parent's new home ok? Don't ask. So anyways, the airplane rides went really well! Nikky slept the whole way there and James off and on throughout and then on the way home (Jasper went home three weeks after coming to Holland and he took James with him. James was babysat by my dear friend, while Nikky and I stayed in Holland for another 2 weeks! I know insane!) James was apparently amazing, and the stewardess stated that she had never seen such a good kid on a plane. If that doesn't challenge my pride, I don't know what does!! So I attributed it to the "slaapsap" we gave him. (sleeping juice). It's purely natural just for the record! Here are some pictures of our fun in the homeland! Enjoy!

The main shopping street in Middelharnis! It's on a dyk and it's just so quaint and gezellig! We had so much fun shopping!

As you can see, Jayden could not leave Nikky alone! He just loved her!!!
